Marathon Insanity

In an effort to get in shape this summer, I joined a running "group" (Portland Fit) to train for the Helvetia half marathon. The group actually trains for the Portland marathon, but that has been of NO interest to me. (Who knowingly CHOOSES to subject themselves to such painful torture???). Well, after agreeing to run in the group with a few of my good friends, I somehow managed to succumb to a whirlwind of peer pressure and sign up for a marathon.

I am in the lottery for the St. George marathon, which with any luck I'll get denied and then I can get the aching pit in my stomach to quit reminding me of my stupidity. I am not a runner, and though I have run hundreds of miles in the course of my life, I still can't claim to be a runner for two reasons: 1. I am slow. 2. I hate it. The ONLY things that keep me running are that it is great for losing baby weight, and I really love the feeling of being DONE running. We find out whether we made the lottery on May 8th. Then I get to look forward to spending my ENTIRE summer and EVERY weekend for the next 4+ months pounding pavement...really, seriously, I mean what in the WORLD was I thinking? I better look pretty freaking HOT in my swimsuit this summer...

Hahahahahahaha!!! You are so funny! It looks way too cold to be running there. And, by the way, I am sure you already look "freaking hot" in your swimsuit. You need to get that little hot bod of yours out here to Colorado and visit. I

Heck Yeah! Go Girl! I can't believe your doing it, well I can, but man...the pain of it! I hope you get in to that marathon, my dad ran it twice and I loved going down there with all the hype and the big chuck-o-rama meal afterwards, even though I didn't run...lol Wish I were there to join you!

Those are great pictures Chelsea! You guys look pretty cold. Those pics must have been taken before you ran. I don't miss the cold but seeing you guys makes me miss the fun!

I think you will do great if you get in.

BTW, running isn't about speed, it's about getting out there and doing it. And you ARE doing it.

Look at you, a runner!

Points to you for saying that you would run the Marathon. I married a guy that LOVES to run and I think that he is crazy. I have not been able to run per doctors orders the last five months but now I have the go ahead. I am actually excited which I never thought that I would say. So, good luck:)

So are you in our out??? I started this year with a "I am going to run a half marathon" goal! I was doing good until I had a bit of a pit stop for a brief hernia surgery!! I have been trying to get out and run and it is not easy to do! Good luck with the full marathon! You rock!
