Great to be Eight!

Kiara gets baptized in 2 weeks, so we got her a dress and took some pictures. Can't believe how fast they grow up!
Caden kept dipping his finger in the open ice cream carton for the picture, we couldn't figure out why his fingers were in his mouth for every picture. Definitely takes after his dad in this regard.
We don't much like cake in our family, so it is usually popcorn cake (my personal favorite) or strawberry pie or something like that.
The spanking machine is an annual tradition passed down from Spencer's family. You crawl through a long line of people as fast as you can and they spank you as hard as they can as you pass through their legs. As long standing tradition holds, the birthday person ends up in tears due to an excessive spank from an older sibling. Or, someone in a defensive tactic knocks over a standing someone in their rush to get through without a spank. Or, someone tries to run rather than crawl through and their head ends up ramming uncomfortably into awkward areas of the body (thus the attractive photo). Ah, good times.

Another tradition. Birthday person sleeps in the playroom, and gets breakfast in bed (or on the floor, on a blanket, with a cookie sheet and a place mat since I get major anxiety about this every birthday). Love to document birthday bed head!!

Love the baptism dress!! She is such a beauty. She always seems so proper in her pictures. As for the candied apples---they were amazing. Jason's sister made them and we all nearly lost our minds over them. They were caramel, them white chocolate rolled in apple pie spice!!!! Oh man! Sorry about the rain...just think a few weeks, CO will be brown again and you will be in a lush forest! Miss you!
